The history of mankind is the history of science and the history of science is the history of physics. The Department of Physics was established in 1958 and the subject is taught in this college from standards XIth to B. Sc. III. The department has a very good infrastructure with spacious laboratories of dimensions about 1800 sq. ft.

The Physics Department at Yashwantrao Chavan College of Science, Karad is dedicated to fostering a deep understanding of the fundamental principles governing the physical universe. The Physics Department conducts regular lectures and guidance sessions for major competitive exams such as JAM, CUET, BARC, and TIFR. These sessions help students build strong problem-solving skills, understand exam patterns, and stay updated with core concepts. Faculty members provide focused support so students can prepare confidently for higher studies and research careers. The Physics department conducts the Indian association of Physics Teacher’s (IAPT) National Graduate Physics Examination (NGPE) and National Standard examination in physics (NSEP) every year.
