About Department

Department of English caters to the needs of undergraduate students of Yashwantrao Chavan College of Science, Karad regarding English language. It includes spoken and written English, formal and informal English, and general and scientific English as per syllabi prescribed by Board of Studies in English and Linguistics, Shivaji University, Kolhapur.


Currently, there is a separate four-credit English paper for B.Sc. I and B.Sc. III for each semester. As per the National Education Policy 2020, it is proposed by Faculty of Science and Technology of Shivaji University that there will be English paper for B.Sc. II and B.Sc. III for each semester from the year 2024-2025.


The faculty of the department deals with teaching, evaluation, extra-curricular, and research activities.
